In apparatus for drying material substantially as described in Specification 789,439, the provision of at least two rotary, steam-heated cylinders carrying hollow annular or disc-shaped members which mesh with the members on adjacent cylinders. Scraping members are secured to the hollow cylinders in the vicinity of the inlet and outlet ends of the apparatus.
