907,943. Motor vehicle driving gear; frames. VAN DOORNE'S AUTOMOBIELFABRIEK N.V. Jan. 15, 1959 [Jan. 16, 1958], No. 1556/59. Classes 79(2) and 79(4). The driven wheels of a motor vehicle are mounted on pivoted half-axles which each comprises reduction gear housed in a casing 6 located nearer to the pivotal axis than to the road wheel, or at the pivotal axis, the input shaft of the reduction gear being driven by a belt driven pulley 7, 7<SP>1</SP> of a continuously variable speed change unit which comprises a belt 9 and driving pulley 10, the driven pulley swinging together with the half-axle about its pivotal axis. The driving gear comprises a. driven shaft 13 and differential gear 12 which drives the pulleys 10. The continuously variable speed change gear comprises control mechanisms 14 and 15 as described in Specifications 907,944 and 907,945. The half-axles 3, housing driving shafts 16, and gear cases 6 are mounted on brackets 5 pivoted at A-B to a cross-beam 2 attached to a main central beam 1 of the vehicle chassis.
