Abstract

1,159,708. Independent spring suspension; industrial trucks. TEXAS INDUSTRIES Inc. 23 Aug., 1966 [26 Aug., 1965], No. 37842/66. Headings B7D and B7H. [Also in Division B8] In a lift-truck (see Division B8) a differential 12 drives two half-shafts 13 carrying front wheels 14, the differential being driven by an I.C. engine or an electric motor 20 through gearing or a V-belt, rope or chain drive 23, an hydraulic torque converter or gear-box 18 and a shaft 16. Back wheels 36 are mounted on horizontal axles 35A which are extensions of inclined shafts 35 respectively supported in bearings 26, 27, the bearing 27 being secured to an arm 29 pivotally connected at 32 to the converter or gear-box 18 and loaded by a compression spring 34. The shafts 35 are connected to a steering wheel 37.
