Abstract
2-Naphthalene sulphonic acid is separated from the hot mixture obtained by sulphonating naphthalene with sulphuric acid by diluting said mixture with aqueous sulphuric acid to a concentration of 25-35% H2SO4, cooling until 2-naphthalene sulphonic acid hydrate precipitates and separating the precipitate. The application of the invention to the separation of the sulphonic acid when obtained by the process of Specification 907,612 is specifically disclaimed.
