Abstract

906,869. Securing railway rails. INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CO., ESTABLISHMENT. Dec. 19, 1958, No. 41082/58. Class 104 (2). A railway rail R is attached to a sleeper by a clip C having an upper limb 22 which is pressed downwardly on to the flange foot of rail R by a bolt 25A and a lower limb 21 formed along its edge adjacent the rail R with a " V "-shaped groove, inclined in the longitudinal direction of the rail as at 28, to receive a tapered key 27. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 3, the groove is formed as a curved surface in the front edge 26D of a plate attached to the lower limb 21 of the clip C. The hole in the limb 21, or the plate member, is such that about half its circumference nearest the key will have the same radius of curvature as the bolt 25A while the remaining half will have a longer radius.
