Abstract
906,299. Powder distributers. VAN DER LELY N.V., C. Jan. 19, 1959 [March 17, 1958], No. 1908/59. Class 6(1). A machine for spreading granular material with the aid of a rotary spreading member 10 is converted for spreading liquid by removing the hopper 52 for granular material and replacing it with a hopper 13 for carrying liquid and means for feeding the liquid to the rotary spreading member, As shown the machine comprises a tubular frame 1 arranged to be carried by the three point linkage of a tractor, the member 10 being driven from the tractor power shaft through a gear box 11. Liquid is fed through a pipe 16 provided with a valve 18 operated by a lever 20. A stirrer 34 is driven from the shaft 9 of the member 10 by means of a clean clutch comprising a boss 39 with two projecting pins which engages a U-shaped member on the shaft 35 of the stirrer 34. For use as a powder distributer the hopper 13 and pipe assembly are removed and replaced by a hopper 52 provided with an agitator 72 formed with a bayonet coupling 73 which engages on the pins of the boss 39. The lower side of the container 52 is formed with a portion 54 and an adjustable ring 55 which bears on the member 10. The ring 55 is provided with three openings. The size of the openings is adjusted by means of plates connected to an adjustable annulus 67 which surrounds the ring 55.
