Abstract

831,452. Fertiliser or seed distributers. KIRSCHMANN, J. D. July 23, 1957. No. 23309/57. Class 6(1). A fertiliser or seed distributer comprises a number of auger elements 42 situated in the bottom 22 of a hopper 16 and arranged to feed material to discharge openings in the rear wall of the hopper situated above the bottom of the hopper. As shown the auger elements 42 are mounted in pairs on a shaft 40, the elements of each pair spiralling in opposite directions so as to feed material to the adjacent opening. An adjustable baffle plate 48 is provided inside the hopper. The openings are formed by spints 60 which are vertically adjustable to vary the amount of material distributed. The shaft 40 is driven by belt gearing from landwheels 14. The belt is tensioned by a jockey pulley which acts as a clutch, the pulley being moved by a lever operated by the tractor driver, the machine being coupled to a tractor by means of a disc.
