Abstract

784,113. Distributers for fertilizers and seeds. STOKLAND, S. Dec. 9, 1955 [Dec. 15, 1954], No. 35496/55. Class 6(1). An agricultural machine for use as a seed planter and/or a fertilizer distributer comprises members 4 mounted on a shaft 5 and spaced by distance pieces 6 to form a series of endless circumferential groove-like recesses 3 which are inclined with respect to the axis of the shaft the members being at right angles to the axis of the roller. The shaft is given an axial displacement by means of a cam plate 4<SP>1</SP> of the same shape as the members 4 which co-operates with cam followers 11. The plate 4<SP>1</SP> is also engaged by cam followers 11<SP>1</SP> mounted on a support 12<SP>1</SP> which is pivotally secured to a slide 29 which is connected by a link 28 to a rod 23 on which are mounted plates 24 which engage the periphery of the shaft and block the recesses 3. The recesses 3 are also blocked by plates 24<SP>1 </SP>fixed to a rod 43. The end walls of the hopper are provided with guides 44 which receive the ends of a partition wall 45. Delivery openings are provided in the bottom of the hopper and the width of the openings are regulated by spring- urged plates 33 connected by links 39 to arms 38 mounted on shafts 36 which are rotated by levers 42. The openings are of triangular shape with the apices pointing downwardly. The shaft 5 is driven by a ratchet mechanism from a handwheel of the machine. Two compartments A, B are formed in the hopper and the machine can be used for distributing fertilizer and sowing grain. In a modification, agitating arms are pivoted on the hopper and engage the peripheral portions of the members 4.
