Abstract

905,207. Type-bar-making machines. MERGENTHALER LINOTYPE CO. Aug. 9, 1960 [Sept. 4, 1959], No. 27527/60. Class 100 (3). [Also in Groups II and XII] Metal pots.-The mouthpiece heater 25 for the metal pot 10 of a typographical line-casting machine and the upper part of the throat heater 20 are clamped against the mouthpiece resiliently, by means of clamp bars 33, 40 having U-shaped slots to secure the threaded ends of studs 31 secured by screws 32 to each side of the mouthpiece, there being fitted over the studs high temperature compression springs 35, 42 held in place by nuts 37, 44. The lower side of the heater 25 and the upper side of the mouthpiece are machined to provide smooth surfaces. The heater 25 is provided with an opening 26 to receive a temperaturesensing probe 27. The lower end of the heater 20 is held in place by a clamp bar 22 securing screws 23 threaded into lugs 24 formed on the crucible, and a holding screw 21 threaded into the bar 22.
