Abstract

1,069,188. Clamps for injection-moulding machines. D-M-E CORPORATION. June 21, 1965 [March 25, 1965], No. 26095/65. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B3] The cavity plates (20), (36) of an injection diemoulding or casting machine are securely held on the ejector and anchor plates (10), (28) respectively and urged or held against the centre blocks (21) and (30) to prevent spattering of molten material at the junction of the blocks, by means of clamps (46), (48). In one form, the clamp engages a recess in the overlapping portion of the ejector plate and its wedging action forces the cavity plate inwardly, whilst a lip (66) on the clamp and a lip (52) on the anchor plate coact and clamp the anchor and ejector plate securely together. The wedging key (55) is held in the recess by a screw. In the other form (Fig. 4) there is no wedging action, the key and other surfaces being machined to close tolerances to hold the cavity plate in light contact with the centre block. The key-securing screw is used to free the clamp.
