932,230. Vices. E. P. FABREGAT. May 7, 1962, No. 17476/62. Class 61. A machine vice comprises a block 4 provided with a longitudinal opening 2 at one end of which is provided an upstanding fixed jaw 4 and along which opening, a slidable body 5 is movable by an actuating screw 11 extending through a threaded bore in the body, a jaw 6 carried by the body and the body being provided on its bottom face with two pairs of laterally projecting lugs 7, 8 (not shown) slidable in guides formed in the bottom face of the block on both sides of the opening 2 and in which there are respective facing notches 10 which permit the successive passage of the lugs for the purpose of dismantling the vice. The head 12 of the actuating screw 11 has a convex surface corresponding to a recess provided in the inside wall of the end piece 3. The head has an orifice 14 in which an operating key 15 can be engaged through an opening 16 in the end piece 3. To remove the jaw 6, the said jaw is shifted to the end of its travel adjacent the end piece 3 so that the lugs 7 face the notches 10 in the guides, the entire body 5 is rocked, causing the lugs 7 to pass through the notches; the lugs 8 (not shown) will pass through the notches on withdrawal of the assembly.
