Abstract

1,078,526. Injection moulding footwear. FOSTER YATES & THOM Ltd. April 8, 1965 [April 9, 1964], No. 14661/64. Heading B5A. Injection moulding apparatus comprises a mould made up of a number of sections which are independently preloaded so that certain sections can be kept stationary while others are allowed to move so as to increase the cavity size while injection is taking place and to reduce the cavity size while the moulding is setting and shrinking. In the example shown, mould sections (6, 8), 12 are movable by fluid pressure means (4, 20), 15, respectively, section 8 being held stationary by a wedge (10) moved by an air cylinder (11) Fig. 3 (not shown). Mould section 12 may be mounted on a mandrel 13 which is rotated through a ratchet-wheel 19 actuated by a chain as the mould section is reciprocated by pistons 15. Two sprues 17, 18 are provided for injection of different materials or materials of different colours.
