Abstract

925,330. Printing machines; impression surfaces. MIEHLE-GOSS-DEXTER Inc. Nov. 14, 1961, No. 40717/61. Class 100 (2). A blanket 15 is mounted on a cylinder 11 by a pair of bars 21, 22 which are secured to opposite ends of the blanket and drawn in overlying relation down into a slot 23 formed in the cylinder. In mounting the blanket the bar 21 is anchored by shoulder screws 30 near the bottom of the slot 23 with sufficient looseness to permit some lost-motion of the bar radially of the cylinder. The bar 22 is fitted into the slot above the bar 21 and screws 35 are passed through both bars into threaded engagement with tapped holes in the slot bottom. The screws 35 are then tightened, driving both bars down into the slot and drawing both edges of the blanket uniformly about the periphery of the cylinder 11. The blanket edges are clamped to the bars 21, 22 by strips 24. Fig. 5 shows a modified clamping arrangement in which the bars and strips have interfitting ridge and trough portions 26, 27. Alternatively, the opposed faces of the bars and strips may be knurled or otherwise roughened.
