Abstract
904,181. Valves. BARKING BRASSWARE CO. Ltd. Sept. 4, 1958 [June 4, 1957 ; Sept. 19, 1957], Nos. 17767/57 and 29553/57. Class 135. In a fluid mixing valve having hot and cold water inlets 2, 3 and a mixing chamber 4 connected to an outlet spout 5 with a spray insert 25, valve members 11, 10 controlling the inlets are screwed into and secure a common seating washer 15 to a non-rotatable valve carrier 28 in the mixing chamber. The carrier is formed with a flange 28a which engages a T- shaped slot in an intermediate member 26 having projections 29 engageable in channels in the valve body to prevent its rotation and a screw-threaded extension 27 engageable with a control member 14 rotatable by a knob 18. The control member 14 is held against axial movement between a body flange 8 and a locking ring 16. The hot water valve 11 is formed adjacent the washer 15 with a pluglike portion so that on opening the valve cold water is admitted to the mixing chamber first. The cold water valve 10 is formed with a dependent plunger carrying a sealing ring so that in the fully raised position of the carrier only hot water passes to the mixing chamber, the cold water inlet being closed.
