904,052. Ventilation. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. May 6, 1960 [May 26, 1959], No. 17959/59. Class 137. [Also in Group XXIII] An open-sided chamber 1, in particular a work cabinet, has an air curtain flowing across its open side and is supplied with treated air for ventilation through a diffusing wall 2 at the rear of the chamber. Air issuing from a slot 11 together with the air circulating in the chamber is withdrawn through an extract grill 6 whence it passes to the unit 4 to be treated before being recirculated both to the curtain and the chamber. A night cover 14 and a light 15 are provided. In a modification, the chamber may have two open sides protected by air curtains, the ventilating air then issuing from a centrallydisposed diffusing wall. The duct above the slot 11 may have a reducing cross-section to provide a uniform pressure along the length of the slot. A number of separate chambers may be disposed side-by-side and be connected by a conveyer.
