Abstract

A compressed detergent tablet adapted to disintegrate in aqueous fluids contains as an ingredient to accelerate said disintegration a cold water swelling and cold water dispersible ungelatinized starch derivative in its intact granule form. Ungelatinized cold water swelling cold water dispersible starch phosphate, sulphate or carboxymethyl starch ether are the preferred starch derivatives. They may be used in quantities of 1 to 50 and preferably 3 to 20% of the tablet composition. An example is given of a tablet containing 65 parts of an alkyl aryl sulphonate, 15 parts of talc and 20 parts of corn starch phosphate. Specification 713,750 is referred to.ALSO:A compressed laundry bleach tablet adapted to disintegrate in aqueous fluids contains as an ingredient to accelerate said disintegration a cold water swelling and cold water dispersible ungelatinized starch derivative in its intact granule form. Ungelatinized cold water swelling cold water dispersible starch phosphate, sulphate or carboxymethyl starch ether are the preferred starch derivatives. They may be used in quantities of 1 to 50% of the tablet composition. An example is given of a tablet containing sodium hexametaphosphate, sodium perborate, sodium sulphate, gum arabic and corn starch phosphate. Specification 713,750 is referred to.ALSO:Compressed tablets containing ingredients adapted to be disintegrated in aqueous fluids include as an ingredient to accelerate said disintegration a cold water swelling and cold water dispersible ungelatinized starch derivative in its intact granule form. An ungelatinized cold water swelling cold water dispersible starch phosphate, sulphate or carboxymethyl starch ether are the preferred starch derivatives. They may be used in quantities of 1 to 50 and preferably 3 to 20% of the tablet composition. A tranquillizer tablet contains 2 - methyl - 2 - n - propyl - 1,3 - propanediol dicarbamate, methyl cellulose, magnesium stearate and the starch derivative. Specification 713,750 is referred to.
