Abstract

A compressed medicinal element which disintegrates quickly in aqueous media comprises in substantially uniform admixture throughout the element a medicament and granulated calcium citrate. A uniform mixture of medicament and calcium citrate in granular form is compressed to the desired shape of the element. The granules may consist of the calcium citrate alone or of mixtures of medicament and calcium citrate. The element may contain additionally one or more known disintegration agents. The element may be in the form of tablets for oral use or suppositories for rectal use.
