903,486. Extruding. SCHLOEMANN A.G. Oct. 25, 1960 [Nov. 16, 1959], No. 36567/60. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XXIX] An hydraulic forging press has a throttling device 20, Fig. 4, disposed in a pressure liquid supply pipe 6, 7 and consisting of at least two throttle valves V1, V2, V3, Fig. 1, of different size openings connected in parallel and actuated by cams 8, 9, 10 on a common shaft in such a manner that after completely opening the smallest valve V1, further rotation of the shaft opens the next larger valve V2. The shaft is driven by a motor 12 and the cams may be so shaped that the smaller valve either remains open or is gradually closed as the larger valves V2, V3 are opened. The press ram 31 is driven by a double-acting piston to extrude a heated steel or aluminium billet through the die aperture 34.
