In a bridge framework, longitudinal girders 4 hook on to cross-girders 1, 2 at either end by a hook 7 engaging a groove 3 and a pin 12 engaging a hole 13 and are retained in position by a pin 14. Ramps 5 at the ends of the bridge engage grooves 3. The bridge may be formed by a number of parallel girders 4 or by lattice members 22 with extruded end sections 23 supported on spaced longitudinal girders 4 or on the cross-girders 1, 2. The cross-girders are of I-section and comprise extruded portions 1, 2 welded to a web 6.
