902,444. Squirrel-cage rotors. ALLISCHALMERS MANUFACTURING CO. Oct. 27, 1960 [Nov. 2, 1959; Jan. 12, 1960], No. 36998/60. Class 35. In a squirrel-cage rotor similar to that disclosed in Specification 771,669, in which poles 18 are divided by deep slots 20, 23 to suppress quadrature flux, additional auxiliary poles 18a are also provided to enable the motor to synchronize at double the pole number, the stator having appropriate change-pole connections. The winding slots 25, grooves 19, and slots 20, 23 are all filled with conducting material, e.g. aluminium, connected to end-rings 27. The additional poles 18a may be narrower than the main poles, as shown, or of equal width. In a modification, Fig. 6, the primary poles 18 are subdivided by pairs of slots 35.
