Abstract

A granular fertilizer comprises ammonium nitrate, finely divided rock phosphate and a potassium salt. Christmas Island rock phosphate is the preferred phosphate and the preferred potassium salt is potassium chloride, although potassium nitrate or potassium sulphate may also be used. The fertilizer preferably contains also magnesium compound in an amount corresponding to at least 2% by weight of magnesium. Specified sources of magnesia are kieserite, dolomite and dolmitic limestone. The granules may be coated with about 0,2-0,4% of lubricating oil and about 2-4% of a finely divided inorganic powder such as calcium carbonate, china clay, plaster of Paris or rock phosphate. Methods of mixing and granulating the components are indicated and examples are given.
