Abstract
1,199,077. Slow-release fertilizer. WINTERSHALL A.G. 2 Aug., 1967, No. 35487/67. Heading C1B. A slow-release fertilizer composition contains potassium, 10-50% being in water-soluble form and 50-90% being in water-insoluble form, and phosphorus, the ratio of P 2 O 5 to K 2 O being 1 to 1-2. The insoluble constituents have a particle size of less than 200 microns. The soluble form of potassium may be the chloride, sulphate or nitrate; the insoluble form may be the calcium or magnesium phosphate, metaphosphate, silicate or calcium silicate. The composition may also contain magnesium in water-soluble and water-insoluble forms. The soluble form may be the sulphate, e.g. as kieserite or picromerite; the insoluble form may be magnesite, dolomite, or magnesium calcium phosphate. Other ingredients may be ureaformaldehyde, starch, alginate, fatty acid amine, or fatty alcohol sulphate or sulphinate. The composition may be granulated, the granules having a particle size of 0À1-5 mm. and a porosity of 5-30%.
