Abstract

1-15% of an alkaline earth sulphate or carbonate is incorporated in a fertilizer composition comprising ammonium nitrate and potassium chloride and optionally ammonium phosphate to reduce or remove its slow cigar-burning properties. The fertilizer composition has a composition defined by a graph (not shown) and is subject to cigar-burning at a rate of propogation of up to about 10 cm/hr. at temperatures of up to about 85 DEG C. The diluent may be anhydrite, gypsum, plaster of Paris, or calcium carbonate.
