A fastening comprising two bolts 11, 12 operated simultaneously by a central handle 30 is characterized by the bolts engaging cam surfaces 27, 28 in the closed position. A crank 23 rotatable by the handle has pivoted to it two members 15, 16 pivotally attached to the bolts. The members 15, 16 have arcuate surfaces which slide along the sides of the box 31 to guide the bolts in an axial direction in guide sleeves 13, 14. The bolts are joggled at 25, 26 tc engage the cam surfaces In a modification the bolts are bent at rightangles at their ends and engage in an inclined slot. The handle may have a spigot sliding in an arcuate slot in the box arranged so that the fastening may be used for left or right-handed doors. A barrel-type lock may be incorporated.
