Abstract
An electrical conductor has at least two stacks of insulated conductor strands (1) with a separator strip (3) impregnated with uncured resin between the stacks within an outer insulation (2). The conductor is wound into a coil with shaped leads at its ends, and then the resin impregnated strip (3) is removed from the leads where it is intended to later further shape the leads and separate the strands. A coil stabilising heat treatment also cures the resin which flows from the strip (3) to bond the strands together in the coil but not in the leads.
