899,563. Junction-boxes; earth continuity couplings. KRONE, G. June 16, 1960 [June 16, 1959], No. 21147/60. Class 38 (1). A terminal box for communication cables comprises a vertical terminal support 1, Fig. 1, which is.trough-shaped in crosssection and is closed at the rear by a cover-plate 6, the terminals consisting of strips 12 sealed in apertures 11, Fig. 2, in the wall of the support and terminating rearwardly of the wall in soldering tags 12a and forwardly thereof in screw - terminals 12b mounted on stepped shoulders on the wall. The support has a baseplate 5 in which is formed an aperture 10 for an incoming cable, leading to the terminals 12a, and'apertures such as 7 for outgoing cables arcuately arranged in front of the support wall. The outgoing cables are clamped above the apertures 7 in recesses 13a in a semi-circular plate 13 by a flexible strip 15 pressed on to the cables by screws 13b carried by a strap 15 which'is screwed together with plate 13 to the base-plate 5. This clamping arrangement bonds together the cable sheaths or screens which are connected through a bracket 17, bolt 18 and strap 20 to a metal entry socket 21 to which the sheath of the incoming cable is soldered. The box is completed by a cowling 3 which fits over the baseplate 5 and is secured by a screw 38 carried by the base-plate and engaging a key-hole slot in the lower wall of the cowling. When removed, the cowling may be supported in a slot 42a in the top of the terminal support 1, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows a modification wherein the cowling snaps over the baseplate 5, being provided for this purpose with internal projections 34 which ride over spring strips 36 at the edge of the base-plate. The opening 10 for the incoming cable is, in this construction, provided with a sealing gland 21b for receiving a cable with an insulating sheath, earthing strap 20 being in this case replaced by a soldering terminal 19. A supporting bracket 2 for mounting the box on a pole is shown in Fig. 10, the box being bolted to a pair of arms 27.
