Abstract
898,720. Switch contacts. HACKBRIDGE & HEWITTIC ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., and WEST, J. A. Sept. 27, 1960 [Nov. 11, 1959], No. 38195/69. Class 38 (5). A moving switch contact 3, in the closed position, engages the fixed contact 1 at point 2, but during opening slides along the contact 1 to establish contact at point 19, after which the contacts separate at 2 and then at 19. The contact 3, or two such contacts side-by-side, are pivoted to a member 7 by pins 17 engaging slots 18 in the contacts and are biased counterclockwise by two springs 13a, 13b, or a single spring (Fig. 7, not shown). Opening is caused by clockwise movement of member 7. The slots 18 may be open-ended (Fig. 5, not shown), and may be formed in member 7 (Fig. 6, not shown). The contact 3 may be connected to a stationary terminal bar 5, on which member 7 is pivoted, by a rubbing engagement at 4, or by a flexible connection (Fig. 9, not shown). The contacts 1, 3 may have removable tips at point 19 (Fig. 8, not shown).
