Abstract

909,057. Contact-members for switches; arc rupturing in switches. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. May 10, 1961 [May 13, 1960], No. 17017/61. Class 38 (5). In a contact arrangement in which flat fixed and moving contacts engage in an edge-to-edge manner, the fixed contact has an incision 2 forming a U-shaped current loop and an arcing horn 16. The fixed contact 1 is formed from a flat strip (Fig. 1) which is shaped (3, 4) to receive a piece of contact material and is bent to form a terminal end 7 which receives a terminal screw 11. A projection 5 on the contact 1 engages a projection 10 on an insulating housing 6 which also has a slotted projection 9 to locate the strip. The moving contact may be reinforced by " upsetting " at 15 and arc-quenching plates 14 are provided.
