Abstract

898,035. Devices for ejecting smoke-producing and incendiary materials. GERMANY, FEDERAL MINISTER OF DEFENCE. May 22, 1959 [May 24, 1958], No. 17622/59. Classes 9(1), 9(2) and 47. An ejection device for inflammable material, explosives, smoke generating or fire extinguishing material and the like comprises a light hand-held tube, e.g. of cardboard or plastic, divided transversely by a piston into a chamber containing the material to be ejected and a chamber containing an ejecting charge and its primer. Fig. 3 shows a tube 36 with a metal sleeve and asbestos liners 41, 42, 43. Resting on liner 42 is a piston of cork, asbestos or non-inflammable impregnated material which supports a bag 44 holding the charge to be ejected and an impact fuze 45. The charge is sealed in by a cork or rubber plug. Below the piston is a casing 38 screwed into the tube, which casing holds a black powder ejecting charge 46 and a primer 37 with a pull string attached to a cap 50. The black powder is separated from the primer and the piston by inflammable membranes, e.g. of celluloid, while the piston has a hole with an inflammable plug 18 through which the charge to be ejected is ignited, as an alternative to the use of the fuze 45. The primer is protected by a breakable cover 57.
