518,259. Fire-extinguishing. F. E. PROPRIETARY CO., Ltd., and FINZI, G. July 13,1939, No. 20489. [Class 47 (ii)] A fire-extinguishing grenade. comprises a casing 1 of thin light non-metallic material closed by caps 2, 2', and a threaded tubular stem 4 with securing nuts at either end. A firing cartridge A is inserted at the lower end of the stem 4 and may be charged with black powder or any suitable enclosure to detonate a bursting charge B. A plurality of filaments 14 of celluloid or other inflammable material serve to ignite the cartridge. A cap 14a covers the lower end of the cartridge and a diaphragm 14b and a throat a direct escaping gas generated by an explosion up the tube 4 to displace a cork 20 and by vents 19 to detonate a bursting charge B contained in cup shaped plastic material 21, 22 such as the substance known under the Registered Trade Mark " Rhodoid." The lower end of the device is protected by a perforated casing.
