Abstract
Synthetic polyamide fibres are dyed with an aqueous suspension of an insoluble 1 : 2-metal complex compound of an azo dyestuff, the complex being in the free acid form, and then treated in dry or wet heat to fix the dyestuff. The dyestuff suspension preferably contains dispersing agents, such as fatty acid-alkylamine condensates and fatty alcohol polyglycol ethers; thickeners, such as sodium alginate, crystal gum, tragacanth and modified or unmodified locust bean gums; moisture conditioners, such as glycerine and ethylene glycol; and acid donors, such as ammonium sulphate, triammonium tartrate, diammonium phosphate, acetic acid and formic acid. Urea may also be added to the suspension.
