Abstract

895,836. Pelletting machines. MIAG MUEHLENBAU UND INDUSTRIE G.m.b.H. July 17, 1958 [July 19, 1957], No. 22908/58. Class 87(2). An extrusion machine for pelletting pulverulant materials, e.g. animal feeding stuffs, comprises a die with a number of orifices and a pressing member displaceable relative to the die for pressing the material through the orifices, means being provided to impart vibratory movements to the die and/or the pressing member so that they move towards and away from one another. In Fig. 1 a roller 2 presses material through a die 1, movable relatively to each other, and vibratory movement is imparted to the roller 2 by an electromagnetic device 6, 7 which is damped by an air piston and cylinder 9, 10. The pressure in the cylinder 10 is variable to enable different materials to be processed, the material extruded may be severed by a knife 4 and a stop 8 is provided to limit the extent of the vibrations. In Fig. 2 (not shown), material is pressed through a die by a roller mounted eccentrically on a disc which has oscillatory motion imparted to it by an electromagnetic device which may be damped. In Fig. 3 (not shown), two oppositely mounted, electromagnetically vibrated rollers, press material through a die.
