895,664. Valves. BENDIX-WESTING- HOUSE AUTOMOTIVE AIR BRAKE CO. April 20, 1960 [July 7, 1959], No. 13888/60. Class 135. A fluid-pressure control valve comprises a valve element 20 reciprocable between first and second positions in a bore 24 formed in a casing 10 having an inlet port 12, a working port 14 and an atmospheric port 18, a spring 40 normally maintaining the valve in the first position against the fluid pressure in the inlet 12, the outer periphery of the valve element sealingly engaging a pair of resilient 0-rings 50, 52 on opposite sides of the working port, and fluid flow passages 32, 38 for communicating the working port either to the inlet port or to the atmospheric port such that in the first position of the valve element, the 0-ring 50 seals off communication between the working port and the inlet port, the working port then being connected to the atmospheric port and, in the second position, the 0-ring 52 seals off communication between the working port and atmospheric port, the working port being connected to the inlet port. The valve element is constituted by two pistons 22, 26, the piston 26 being of larger diameter in order to provide a snap-action. Specification 683,350 is referred to.
