Abstract

893,421. Stripping carding engine rollers. BOTTINI, G. April 21, 1958, No. 12572/58. Class 120(1) The clothing of the main cylinder of a carding machine is continuously cleaned by applying vacuum to the cylinder at a zone where no carding operation is effected and the fibre sucked from the clothing is redirected on to the upper part of the doffer. As shown, aligned suction nozzles A, B, C cover the whole width of cylinder 1 and are provided with suction openings A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, spaced apart by a distance which is a multiple of, as shown, twice, the width of the openings. Conduits A<SP>2</SP>, B<SP>2</SP>, C<SP>2</SP>, Fig. 1, connect A, B and C respectively to a rotary distributer N which is also connected by conduits D<SP>1</SP> to a suction fan D and by conduits G<SP>1</SP>, F<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>1</SP> to fans G, F, E. The latter communicate via dust filters P and conduits E<SP>2</SP>, F<SP>2</SP>, G<SP>2</SP> with outlets H, L, M aligned, as indicated in Fig. 2, to cover the whole width of the doffer 4. Distributer N provides the following operative cycle: (a) nozzle A is connected to fan D, and fibre removed from bands of cylinder 1 opposite openings A, is collected in a chamber within the distributer bounded by a filter diaphragm 5; (b) the chamber is then connected to conduit F<SP>1</SP> , so that the fibre is fed through outlet L on to doffer 4 over a different axial zone from that on which it was removed from cylinder 1; (c) fibre is drawn similarly, in succession, through nozzles B and C and deposited through outlets H and M respectively. At the end of the first and second cycles, nozzles A, B, C, are axially displaced by a distance equal to the width of openings A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>1</SP>; after the third cycle, the whole width of the cylinder has been covered and the nozzles are returned to their initial position for a repetition of the cycles.
