Abstract

892,665. Bundling and stacking. RALEIGH CYCLE CO. Ltd. Dec. 16, 1957 [Dec. 27, 1956], No. 39262/56. Class 94(1). [Also in Group XXX] Tubes, and other elongated articles, are clamped in bundles for lifting or stacking by devices such as that shown in Fig. 1. Each device comprises a base 10 with upstanding pillars 11 between which the articles are clamped by a hinged bar 17 formed with a lug 18 secured by a hinged bolt 15. Wooden strips 20, 21 protect the load. The bundles are stacked as shown in Fig. 5, the bottom base 10 resting on pillars 30 upstanding from a bottom plate so that the weight of the stack is not transferred to the bottom plate through the base plate 10. The bundles may be lifted by a device engaging lugs 13 on the clamps (see Group XXX), or may be handled by fork lift trucks.
