891,732. Pessaries. JONES, E. A. Sept. 1, 1958, No. 28048/58. Class 81 (2). A ring pessary comprises a helical spring 11 portions of which are sheathed by two arcuate tubular members 13, 14, the ends 12 of the spring 11 being positioned intermediate the ends of one of the tubular members. The length of each tubular member 13, 14 is between a quarter and a half the circumference of the ring and the ends of the tubular members are spaced so that equal portions of the spring 11 are unsheathed. The spring 11 may be made of steel wire and the tubular members 13, 14 of metal. Abutting ends of the spring may be secured together by an arcuate pin (not shown) which is a friction fit in the coils of the spring. The ring may be coated or covered with rubber or plastic in which the unsheathed portions are embedded. A coating of rubber may be vulcanized or otherwise secured to a soft rubber occlusive diaphragm.
