Abstract

891,264. Envelope-making machines. WINKLER, R., and DœNNEBIER, R. March 30 1960. [July 11, 1959], No. 11151/60. Class 94(2). The clippings resulting from cutting out window apertures by a machine for producing window envelopes are removed by mechanism which comprises a suction roller 4, which grips the clippings 13 before each is completely cut and, after the clippings have been parted off, delivers them to a conveyer belt 15 which carries them to a discharge shoot 23. The web or blank 1 is fed, by feed discs 2, with longitudinal cuts 10, 11 already in it. A roller 7 rotates on the shaft 3 of the discs 2, at a higher speed, and segments 9, 9<SP>1</SP>, relatively adjustable thereon, carry cross-cut knives 8, 8<SP>1</SP> which cooperate with a fixed cross-cut knife 6. The cut 12 is first made but the clipping 13 is gripped by suction through the holes 4<SP>1</SP> in the roller 4, at points 13<SP>1</SP>, before the second cut 12<SP>1</SP> is made. As the clippings are transferred from the roller 4 to the belt 15 they are guided by a deflector 21, engaging a groove 4<SP>11</SP> in the roller 4, and are then held in contact with the belt by compressed air issuing through apertures 20 in a wind cheat 18 or in a tube or tubes, until they are guided into the shoot 23 by a deflector 22. There may be a plurality of wind cheats 18 for wider clippings. The conveyer and wind cheat may be constructed as a swing-out unit.
