Abstract
891,226. Counter-balanced sash windows. JOHNSTON, J. W. Aug. 17, 1959 [May 19, 1958], No. 15949/58. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXV] In a sliding sash the end of a cord 12, Fig. 2, attached at the other end to a balance weight is attached to the sash by a socket member 10 secured to a base plate 7 with holes 8 for securing it to the sash by screws and the socket is closed at one end except for a hole 11 through which the cord is threaded and knotted and the knot housed by the socket. In the case of lifting and lowering cords of a sash a pair of opposing sockets each accommodate one end knot, Fig. 5.
