Abstract
890,677. Grinding. BORETTO, G. April 11, 1960 [April 1, 1959], No. 12851/60. Class 59. [Also in Group XXX] An automatic bag filling and grinding machine comprises a screw 5 for picking up material from a heap on the ground or from a tank 3 and discharging it into the chamber A of a main tank 6, a hammer mill 7 secured to the main tank, the material being passed from chamber A to a chamber B of the main tank either directly or after conveyance through the mill, and the chamber B having controllable outlets 24 for discharging the material into bags C. The tank 6 is provided with an apron 17 below which is a movable tray 18 having peripheral bores, the tray being connected with a casing 18a having therein a spring-loaded plug 19 pivotally connected to a control lever 22 operation of which moves the tray 18 with respect to the apron 17 either to the position shown in Fig. 3 in which the material passes from chamber A to chamber B after passage through the mill or to the position shown in Fig. 4 in which the material passes directly from chamber A to chamber B. The mill grinding chamber 30, Fig. 7, has rows of helically arranged peripheral slots 31 and the hammers 32 have serrated edges. The shaft 13 of the screw 5 is driven from a motor 9 through a clutch 11 which is connected by levers 14, 15 to a diaphragm 16 in chamber A, the clutch being disengaged when the material in chamber A causes the diaphragm 16 to be raised. When all the material in chamber A has discharged into chamber B after grinding, tray 18 rises to cause a lever 36 to operate a switch and stop the machine.
