828,542. Rag tearing machines. WALKER & SMITH (BATLEY) Ltd. Aug. 1, 1957 [Aug. 9, 1956], No. 24406/56. Class 120(1) In a rag tearing machine, material initially presented to the machine by a feed sheet 4 and feed rollers 3 is thrown off the cylinder 2 rearwardly into an enclosed space within a housing 10 where it falls freely on to a second feed sheet 6; the latter passes it to a second pair of feed rollers 5 which presents it again to cylinder 2. The arrangement permits higher than normal speed for at'least feed rollers 3. The bitter roller 7, bit plate 8 and bit slide 9 may be retained or dispensed with.
