An emergency signalling unit for a vehicle comprises a single-pole double-throw switch SS having a flasher FL connected across the fixed contacts. As described, in the upper position of switch SS, the lights operate normally, but when parking in an emergency, switch SS is thrown to its lower position so that either the headlamps HL and tail-lamps TL or the parking lamps PL and tail-lamps TL are flashed, depending on the position of the lighting switch 10. A tell-tale lamp FP also flashes when the flasher FL is working.
