Abstract

1,214,296. Vehicle brake lights. GIRLING Ltd. 19 Jan., 1968 [24 Jan., 1967], No. 3513/67. Heading G4Q. [Also in Division F2] A dual hydraulic brake system (see Division F2) has a separate stop light for each half of the system, each stop-light circuit containing one winding of a balanced-armature relay. If one hydraulic circuit should fail, only one brakepressure switch will operate, so that the relay is no longer balanced, and closure of its contacts lights a warning lamp. For testing, a threeposition switch shorts out each relay winding in turn, when depression of the brake pedal should cause the relay and warning lamp to operate.
