Abstract
A therapeutic composition comprises the 11-cis isomer of Vitamin A and a pharmaceutical carrier. There may also be present Vitamin A in the ratio with respect to the 11-cis isomer of 100 : 1 to 1 : 100. Esters of the isomer such as the acetate and palmitate may be employed. Examples describe the preparation of tablets, enteric coated tablets, gelatine capsules, enteric coated gelatine capsules, suppositories, injectable oily solutions and aqueous dispersions. In making tablets the 11-cis isomer must be adsorbed on an inert adsorbant, such as kaolin, fuller's earth, magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate or starch. The 11-cis isomer may be incorporated with a mixture of vitamins, such as are in U.S.P. Decavitamin Tablets, sodium ascorbate or ascorbic acid.
