Abstract

890,492. Converting; transformers. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 2, 1958 [June 4, 1957], No. 17741/57. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XXXVII] In electric traction equipment a D.C. motor is supplied by controllable rectifiers connected by tap changing means to a tapped transformer winding, the rectifiers being rendered non- conductive during tap-changing. A pair of motors M1, M2 are supplied by a bridge rectifier network R1, R2, R3, R4, in which control elements such as grids or ignition and/or excitation electrodes are provided in control circuits including contacts C1, C2, C3, C4. The control contacts and tap changing switches have a common controlling means. In an alternative arrangement a simple bi-phase rectifier circuit is used. Specifications 890,494 and 890,495 are referred to.
