Abstract

890,043. Swash-plate pumps. DOWTY HYDRAULIC UNITS Ltd., and UNIPAT A.G. July 29, 1959 [Aug. 1, 1958], No. 24885/58. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXIX] A rotating cylinder block swash-plate pump is provided with a central recess 21 ir the cylinder block into which extends a stem 22 engaging the valve plate 4. A bearing 29 is provided between the stem and the valve plate and liquid from the high pressure line is fed to the recess through passage 24 of the stem. Two rotating seals are provided between the stem and block to form an effective area such that the liquid urges the block and valve plate into contact. In the embodiment shown the seals are provided by the valve plate 4 and a seal 25 between the recess and a head 23 of the stem, the seals allowing transverse movement to any bending of the stem. The seal 25 is of the type described in Specification 824,945 but may be in the form of an 'O' ring or annular seal. The bearing 29 may be situated in the head 23 and an annular seal may be provided between the stem and the valve plate end of recess 21. A spring 26 provides initial engagement of the block and valve plate. Specification 850,010 also. is referred to.
