Abstract

889,886. Thermal switches. KLOTZ, R. April 13, 1960 [April 16, 1959], No. 13151/60. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XI] In an electric lamp made to resemble a candle, one of the supply wires 5 is connected to the filament 15 by way of an insulated electric heating resistor 7 wound round a bimetal blade 8 of a thermal switch which at each beat shortcircuits the resistor to produce a flickering effect, the resistor and switch being so designed as to produce a voltage drop of the order of 5% and a frequency of the order of 5 beats per second. The lead 5 is also connected to the other contact 9 of the switch, the resistor 7 being connected between the lead 5 and the arm 8 which in turn is connected to the filament 15. The switch 8, 9 is supported between rigid members 12, 13, the member 13 carrying an adjusting screw 14 for the switch.
