Abstract
The electrical central heating installation is of the split supply type. It uses a common current supply line and an individual supply feed to single resistor convector heaters. The convector heaters are divided into two groups whose electrical power rating is approximately equal. Inverter mercury switches (M1, M2) connect the two convector heater groups (R1, R2) alternatively to the common supply and to the individual supply so that when one of the groups is fed by the individual supply the other group is fed from the common supply and vice versa. The mercury switch inverters are cam (A) operated. The cam also controls the operation of supply switching triacs.
