Abstract
905,758. Electric water heaters. ECKERFELD, A. Sept. 1, 1960 [Sept. 2, 1959], No. 30170/60. Class 39 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] A water heater comprises two heating resistances 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, and two switches 17, 17<SP>1</SP>, which may be pressure-operated as shown or thermostats, the first resistance 7 being supplied through normally open contact 21 of switch 17 and the second resistance 7<SP>1</SP> being supplied in series through normally closed contact 22 of switch 17 and normally open contact 20 of switch 17<SP>1</SP>. Thus resistance 7<SP>1</SP>, which may be of low wattage for a wash-basin, cannot be energized while resistance 7, which may be of high wattage for a bath, is in circuit and the required capacity of the mains is reduced. As shown, the resistances are disposed in passages 8, 8<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 1, in ceramic blocks 5, 6 connected by end-pieces 4, 10 to inlet 1 and outlets 2, 3.
