Abstract

889,803. Mineral-cutting machines. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. April 18, 1958 [April 30, 1957], No. 13724/57. Addition to 872,736. Class 68(1). Extending about one or both cutter drums of a mineral-cutting unit such as disclosed in the parent Specification, which is referred to, is an arcuate guide 24 for the cut mineral; the guide 24 being pivotally mounted so that it can be swung around the drums between two opposed positions so as to be effective for either direction of travel of the machine. The cutting unit consists of cutter drums extending above and below a horizontal structure on which the drums are mounted for rotation about a vertical axis. The guide 24 is secured to an arm 25 rotatable about a boss on the support structure coaxial with the axis of rotation of the drums.
