Abstract
889,708. Skid rails for metal heating furnaces. " OFU " OFENBA-UNION G.m.b.H., and STEINMULLER G.m.b.H., L. & C. July 2, 1959 [July 3, 1958], No. 22810/59. Class 51 (2). A continuous heat treatment furnace of the pusher type divided into preheating, heating and soaking zones 100, 101 and 102 respectively has skid rails comprising hollow, watercooled tubes 120 carrying skid plates 24 and each having one end secured at 105 to the furnace structure and the other end forming a coil 126 attached to a header 127 disposed below the solid hearth 14. In the preheating zone 100 the rails are disposed on refractory walls 11 and in the heating zone 101 on parallel water-cooled frames 13 comprising bearer members 130, pillars 132 and a base member 131 and being secured at one end, e.g. 133, alone. The discharge end of the hearth 14 has interconnected watercooled rails 121 extending from a header 128. The wear plates 24 may be made of different substances to allow for varying temperatures along the furnace length, for instance, a relatively hard steel at temperatures below 700‹ C. and a relatively soft steel above 700‹ C.
